Everyday operations of the Golf Community of the Year run on one system – SHG relies on WisePlatform Golf comprehensively
Suur-Helsingin Golf’s long-term development work was recognised at the Finnish Golf Gala, where SHG received the Golf Community of the Year award. SHG relies on WisePlatform Golf, an all-in-one solution that brings together the essential daily operations of a golf course.
With over 6,000 members, SHG is one of the largest and longest-established golf communities in Finland. The award, presented in March during SHG’s 60th anniversary year, was a timely recognition of the club’s consistent effort – both on and off the course. According to the jury, SHG was especially acknowledged for its membership growth, environmental efforts, and data-driven decision-making.
“The award came as a complete surprise – no one expected it. It felt particularly meaningful, as it confirmed what we’ve long felt within the community: that we’re doing things right. There’s a strong sense of togetherness at SHG. We also get a lot of feedback from guests that they enjoy the atmosphere here – it’s relaxed and welcoming,” says SHG’s Managing Director Jarkko Raski.
A key step in SHG’s development was taken about four years ago, when the club chose WisePlatform Golf as its comprehensive management system. The decision has resulted in tangible improvements to both administrative efficiency and member experience.
From fragmented systems to a manageable whole
Before switching to WisePlatform Golf, SHG used six different systems to manage its operations: website, online store, POS system, tee time booking, newsletter tool, and financial management – all running separately. This made everyday work complex and time-consuming, requiring constant manual data transfer and switching between platforms.
The decision to adopt WisePlatform Golf was driven by the desire to modernise and streamline daily operations. The platform supported SHG’s shift towards business-oriented, data-driven management. Additionally, training new staff became significantly easier, as one system replaced the need to learn many separate tools.
Smoother communication and better financial control
One of the most visible changes since implementing WisePlatform Golf has been the improvement in communication. Preparing newsletters, which used to take days, is now part of the weekly routine – quick, structured and targeted. As a result, communication to both members and guests is more focused and effective.
“The email marketing tool is absolutely brilliant – and that says a lot coming from me, as I’m not naturally a writer. Sending targeted newsletters is now easy and efficient,” says Raski.
The impact on financial management has also been significant. SHG has moved away from external accounting with delayed and sometimes unreliable reporting. With real-time access to financial figures, the management can now steer the club based on facts. For the first time in years, SHG has had full control over its finances throughout the entire year – not just at year-end.
Sales made easier and more strategic
WisePlatform Golf has also helped SHG develop its sales operations. The system supports a proactive sales model, allowing SHG to offer and sell memberships for the following season already in November–December. The online store functions as an active sales channel year-round.
Sales are no longer concentrated at the start of the season – instead, customer service and product offering are available continuously and predictably. This helps balance workloads and strengthens long-term planning.
“After switching to WisePlatform Golf, sales have become much clearer. It’s a highly versatile and effective sales tool that adapts to the different business models and needs of golf courses. It gives users the freedom to develop their operations in the direction they choose. In short, sales and sales development are easier with WisePlatform Golf,” Raski summarises.
A strong recommendation based on hands-on experience
SHG recommends WisePlatform Golf to golf courses that aim to develop their operations holistically. The system is not just a ready-made product – it can be adapted to the specific needs of each course.
“A strong recommendation – and above all, take the full system into use to get the most benefit out of it,” says Raski.
Every course also has the opportunity to participate in regular development group meetings, where experiences are shared, ideas exchanged, and the platform is shaped together with the users.
“Working with the WisePlatform Golf team is pleasant and professional. Development is genuinely customer-driven – we’re definitely heading in the right direction,” Raski concludes.
