Search Engine Visibility and WisePlatform

A company's search engine visibility can be influenced by search engine optimization. Producing SEO-optimized content is easy with WisePlatform's publishing system - WiseCMS.

"The most important aspects of search engine optimization are often defined as the site's technical features, content, and reputation. The success of these determines the company's search engine visibility in the end.

Technical features remove barriers to search engine visibility In WisePlatform, the principles of search engine optimization are considered in the technical features of the page template.

For the ordinary content producer, it is sufficient to know that there is nothing in the technical implementation of the site that prevents the pages from being indexed by search engines. Providers of publishing systems are usually very aware of the barriers to search engine visibility and have removed them.

Technical factors that affect search result positioning include:

  • Site speed
  • Responsiveness
  • URL structure
  • Sitemap

Good content improves search engine visibility

The most important aspect of search engine optimization is content. It must be easy to read, relevant, shareable, interesting, and diverse. Texts should be written primarily with people in mind, but keywords and phrases embedded in the content also play an important part in optimization.

Below, factors affecting search engine visibility from the content producer's perspective are discussed, and it is explained how one can influence these factors in WiseCMS.

In WiseCMS, the work of the content producer is designed to be as easy and partly automated as possible, which helps in ranking in search results, especially when special attention is not paid to search engine optimization in companies. Unfortunately, automation does not directly guarantee good rankings in search engines. For example, conducting the foundation of search engine optimization, keyword research, does not happen by itself and requires a lot of background work.

Keyword Research

The first step in search engine optimization is to conduct keyword research to identify the search terms and phrases that are most beneficial for a company to be found online.

Performing keyword research is very rewarding, as sometimes the terms discovered through the research may be completely different from those the company would prefer to be found with online. A company must identify such industry-related search terms and phrases that consumers use to search for information online. It is not advisable to carry out SEO for keywords that no one searches for!

Search Engine Optimization in WiseCMS Articles

WiseCMS's article management automatically generates an SEO title and an SEO description for the page based on the article's title and lead paragraph. If the text needs to be further optimized for a specific keyword, the page's title or meta-description can be modified.

What is an SEO Title?

The SEO title is said to be the single most important part of search engine optimization.

The SEO title is the name of the content that tells search engines what topic is being discussed on the page. The chosen keyword for the article should be included in the title, preferably as the first item. It appears in search engine result listings. It must be unique, and the same site should not have multiple articles with the same title. It is different from the visible headline of the article itself. The recommended length is no more than 65 characters.

Caption

WiseCMS's article management encourages content producers to write a caption for each image. This is an opportunity worth taking, as search engines interpret images based on their file names and the captions associated with them.

Url

For search engines, the URL addresses of a website also matter. They should be clear and indicative of the page content. It's also beneficial to keep the visible URL addresses of articles short.

WiseCMS generates the visible URL address based on the article's title and any categories that may have been added to the article. If you want to shorten the URL address further, this can be done in the article's content editor under: → "Settings" → "Article Address"

Add a slash and the desired end part of the URL. For example, the company site of WiseNetwork can be found at https://wisenetwork.fi/en-gb/company

Social Sharing Buttons

On WiseNetwork's pages, social sharing buttons automatically appear on the left side of the site.

In the article management system, you can select the "social buttons" element from beneath the content section of the content editor and place it wherever you want in the article. If desired, you can add social buttons at both the beginning and the end of the article.
